Ylang - Ylang essential oil

Ylang Ylang essential oil, cananga odorata, is sweet and exotic, sensual floral scent. Very seductive, and believed to possess aphrodisiac qualities. It is a relaxing and soothing scent that may help to relieve anxiety and calm the nervous system. Ylang Ylang essential oil is often used in blends for promoting a restful sleep and also seduces the senses and readies you for romance. It is also used for cosmetic and hair care, skin diseases, to prevent fever and fight infections, and to soothe insect bites.
Ylang-ylang, cananga odorata, is native to Indonesia and the Philippines it is a tall weeping tree with long, greenish yellow flowers. The flowers are a traditional adornment in the Far East. It was used by the islanders of Asia to treat insect bites and to ward off fever, and also by the Victorians for romance and as a stimulator for hair growth. The flowers and essential oil are sedative and antiseptic. The oil has a soothing effect, and its main therapeutic uses are to slow an excessively fast heart rate and to lower blood pressure. The scent is thought to have aphrodisiac qualities, and with its reputation as an aphrodisiac, ylang-ylang may be helpful in treating impotence.
Ylang Ylang essential oil blends well with the following essential oils: rosewood, jasmine, vetiver, opopanax, bergamot, mimosa, cassia and rose.
Ylang-Ylang oil cautions - Non toxic, non-irritant, a few cases of sensitization reported.
Ylang-Ylang oil properties - Aphrodisiac, anti-depressant, anti-infectious, antiseborrheic, antiseptic, euphoric, hypotensive, nervine, regulator, sedative (nervous), stimulant (circulatory), tonic.
